Paddock Management

However well grazed it is, a paddock will benefit from our regular annual maintenance programme.

In early spring, harrowing and aerating promotes healthy grass growth. Later on in the spring we tackle the first growth of weeds, including dock, nettles and, if required, spray for ragwort. Lightly mowing now will further encourage new grass growth.

In late summer or early autumn, topping off again with a mower removes grass seed heads and encourages strong new growth. Weeds will be in flower now, so mowing will also reduce weed seed spread. Again, ragwort, if beyond manual removal, can be sprayed.

If your paddock is closed up over winter, we can also re-seed any bare areas to prevent infiltration from weeds, and giving the ground a head start for the following season.
